Adulthood na scam?

Just because nobody asked you if you’ve eaten today, you came to the conclusion that adulthood is a scam?

Yes, as children a lot of us, if not all of us lived carefree lives, unbothered about what the next day holds for us. All our day to day needs were being catered for and all we had to do to eat was just show up at the dining table. But there comes a time in our lives when we cannot be as carefree as we want, when all our actions have direct dire consequences and in the long run; when we provide the food on our table, except your father is Elon Musk.

In essence, the situations that make us think that adulthood is one big scam are just the realities of life soccer punching us right in the face. And yes, it hurts. Really badly.

Sure, adulthood presents itself with some struggles and what makes these struggles much more surreal are the high stakes attached to it. For example; if you don’t study hard, you fail or if you don't work to earn money, you’ll go hungry, not have a roof over your head and not have money to buy data (so no way to catch cruise on twitter and post memes on your whatsapp story). And I think what makes it even much worse is the fact that NOBODY SEND YOUR PAPA.

Yes, NOBODY SEND YOUR DADDY. Everyday people wake up and strive to crush goals and I bet you, there’s nobody who would halt their dreams and then pet you when you post ‘life tough’ on whatsapp.
I'm not saying nobody cares about you o, but don’t expect help when you’re doing nothing. I know you always pray to God asking him to send you destiny helpers, but when those helpers come, what are they going to help you with? I think I’ve derailed a bit.

Back to the subject; being an adult is more than just being 18 years or older, it is the time of life when one is expected to take responsibility for one’s own actions and well-being. So if you are unable to take responsibility for your actions or you still feel any iota of entitlement then you’ve not fully understood the concept of adulthood.

Take a look at it this way for a moment; whatever we enjoyed as children(no matter how little) was due to the work an adult in our lives made and struggles they had to to pull through and overcome. So when you feel like you’re being scammed by life, just think of those (yourself inclusive) that will enjoy from the work you’re putting in today.
