She said no - Short fiction
The ambience was just right; the colourful lighting's, the room was cool and serene, the band playing a slow, rhythmic romantic tune and she was sitting right in front of me, wearing her red flowing off-shoulder gown, showing off her glowing dark skin.
She laughed at every joke I told, although most were not funny,
at all.
The waiter came by our table, placing the tray he so eloquently held on Anne's end of the table.
She opened it, and gasped immediately she saw the ring right in the middle of the tray, placing both her hands over her nose and mouth.
I stood up from where I sat, walked up to her, went down on one knee, took the ring and looked straight into her eyes
"No need for too much talk" I said with so much swag
"I want to spend the rest of my life with you Anne. Please , will you do me the honour of being your husband?" I asked.
She was mute for a moment, she looked worried and I wondered why.
"I can't" she muttered, her voice was shaky.
"Why can't you?" I questioned
"We've been together for 3 years now, why can't you?" I kept on asking.
"I'm so sorry, but I'm pregnant" she said
"Pregnant?, that's not a problem, I'll....." she interrupted me, saying
"No, no, no, the pregnancy is not yours, it's...it's....it's Femi's" she concluded.
"What! My brother?"
I stormed out of the restaurant, heading for Femi's.
Lol Femi has hit again 😂
